On 14 December 1988, 4ZZZ was taken off air and forcibly evicted from its UQ premises by the then student union executive, headed by one Victoria Brazil. The move prompted many previously apolitical students to take a firm stand against the move and to rally support for the station. While Zed was not to return to the premises its' volunteers had helped hand-build, unprecedented community support saw the station live to fight another day.
Young Griffo
Three musicians, drenched in sweat, wrenching every note, every beat and every word into sound - as if it were their last.
Young Griffo are an eclectic original rock band. Reviews have defined the band as "interesting mix of alternative rock and post punk sounds" with particular reference to a "roaring live" show. It is modern rock music written with a clear love of rock like Queens of Stone Age and Biffy Clyro, blended with the introspection of Death Cab For Cutie and a lyrical element that is intangibly and bitterly Australian. That said, Young Griffo gleefully ignores the predictable pastiche of popular indie music and openly embraces the fire and noise of fuzzed out riffs and pounding rock beats.
