The DiSCiPLiNES: Virgins Of Menace

It is probably easier to list the bands that haven't included Ken Stringfellow (not Metallica) at some point. But the sometime REM, Posies, Big Star (and about a billion other bands) member is on to something good with his Norwegian mates The DiSCiPLiNES. With Scandanavian neatness and efficiency they do pretty impressively powerful garage. Yet what is more impressive is the precision with which they use that power. A prissy focus on neatness could really detract from a good'n'messy dose of garage, but this band manage to be razor sharp even when lost in a wall of fuzz. Just listen to their team-up with Lydia Lunch on Fate's A Strong Bitch - perfect theatrics brilliantly executed.
