The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride to raise funds and awareness for men's health

In over 600 cities worldwide, including Brisbane, more than 70,000 dapper men and women will hit the road on classic and vintage styled motorcycles on Sunday 24 September in an effort to raise funds for men’s health in this years Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.

Founded in 2012 by Sydneysider Mark Hawwa, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is now celebrating its fifth year and has raised over $8M USD to date. Inspired by the likes of Mad Men’s Don Draper, this incredible charity event now unites tens of thousands of people across the globe to raise awareness for prostate cancer research and male suicide prevention.

On Sunday 24 September, participants will don stunning vintage clothing and take to the streets on their classic motorcycles - the streets of Brisbane will be humming with the tune of a united front against killers of men. Riders will make their way through the heart of the city before taking the scenic route through Mount Coot-tha towards their final destination - The Morrison Hotel - where there’ll be an after party with live entertainment and a naked whiskey bar!

This year in particular, the lead up to the ride has been an emotional journey. Following the news that a volunteer event host took his own life, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride has doubled their commitment to aid the funding on men’s mental health programs.

"It's an important year for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. What was already a personal event for many has taken on a new meaning, especially after losing one of our own. We ride this year for the men of the world who struggle with mental health and for the families and individuals whose lives are affected by prostate cancer” — Mark Hawwa.

In partnership with the Movember Foundation, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride are continuing to commit 80% of total funds raised to prostate cancer research, with the remainder to go towards male suicide prevention.
