Indigenous Australians and Recognition within the constitution

Indigenous Australians have, for a long time, faced prejudice and injustice, social disadvantage and a lack of recognition within the country. The current debate on recognising Indigenous and Aboriginal Australians within the country's founding document may be ignoring some major issues.

4ZZZ Journalist Martin Brown interviews Professor Megan Davis, of the University of New South Wales, a professor of Law and an Acting Commissioner of the NSW Land and Environment Court for her thoughts on the matter.

The federal government has indicated that the referendum to change the constitution to recognise Indigenous Australians will be held no later than May 27, 2017.
