Brisbane City Council says Sovereign Embassy is Trespassing and Must Go.

Members of Brisbane's Sovereign Embassy have been told they are trespassing and the Embassy must close in its current location. This afternoon a council official stated the council was prepared to forcibly remove the Embassy within 12 hours. The Embassy which has been in Musgrave Park since March was visited on Saturday by Lord Mayor Quirk who stated the Council’s position and was not open to negotiation. The stated reason the Embassy was to move is next weekends Paniyiri Greek Festival and other upcoming events at the park. However the Greek community had stated earlier in the Quest City South News that they had no problem with the Embassy’s presence during the festival. A call for support has been released by the Embassy asking people to join them at Musgrave Park.
