Qld Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie seeks to drop parole orders and suspended sentences

Mr Bleijie said parole orders are ineffective, with about 300 offenders returning to jail each month for breaches. He also made over nine appeals for sentences in the past year which he believes were "manifestly inadequate". The Queensland Council of Civil Liberties vice president Terry O'Gorman said the announcement is an attack on the separation of powers and judicial independence.
