Bill Shorten to become ALP leader

Kevin Rudd’s resignation as Labor leader on Saturday has prompted Simon Crean to advocate Bill Shorten as the new ALP leader.

Shorten said he is “genuinely undecided” about whether he will contest in a leadership ballot, stating he will have to consult his family first.

Deputy leader Anthony Albanese is another possible contestant for the ALP leadership, but so far has not said whether he is contemplating nominating.
