Canadian First Nations vow to #ShutDownCanada this Friday

Today Canadian Indigenous people and their supporters are planning boycotts, rallies, and blockades, in what observers say may be the biggest national First Nations protests since the Idle No More movement.

#ShutDownCanada is asked that people don’t buy, fly or work today, and keep the kids home from school”.
The Facebook event page hosted by “In Solidarity with all Land Defenders” is listing events being organised by different organisations throughout Canada, and states that forcing the government to address the thousands of missing and murdered Indigenous women throughout Canada is one of their primary aims.
“Make no mistake that systemic racism and structural violence are connected to the needs of this illegal colonial state to maintain control of the land for exploitation. That is why we must call attention to these issues at the same time,” the Facebook page reads. “It’s all connected.”
