Queensland earthquakes hit North Queensland

Queensland this morning was shaken by two earthquakes which hit the town of Eidsvold, south-west of Bundaberg just before 2am.

Another followed the magnitude 5.2 quake, the second measuring 2.9, almost an hour later.

It has been estimated by geoscientists the quake may have been felt by people 206 kilometres away.

Residences as far as the Darling Downs reported tremors.

Geoscience Australia senior seismologist told the ABC that people could expect aftershocks in the coming days.

No property damage has been reported.
