Queensland study into pre-loading
Operation Smart Start, conducted by Griffith University and the Queensland Police Service monitored how much partygoers pre-loaded, before heading out.
The study surveyed more than 3000 people and revealed that ninety per cent of people drank at home before a night out.
The results showed partygoers tended to spend more money because they were already drunk.
Further, pre-loading contributed to more alcohol-fuelled violence.
Researchers hope this study will help educate people on knowing their limits on drinking and staying within them.
