Japan's whaling justification labelled inadequate

Japan submitted a revised whaling plan to the commission, stating 330 Minke whales should be killed annually for the next 12 years for scientific purposes. The expert panel found no scientific justification for continuing lethal research whaling in the Southern Ocean and encouraged non-lethal means of examining whale populations.
