The Drones

n 2005 a little known band from Melbourne, VIC, released what was to become one of the most critically acclaimed, celebrated and talked-about Australian albums of modern times. Wait Long By The River And The Bodies Of Your Enemies Will Float By catapulted The Drones into the consciousness of mainstream music critics here and overseas, and cemented what fans of the band already knew. In May this year, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its release, the band played a special one-off show at the Sydney Opera House, for Vivid Live, showcasing tracks from Wait Long, as well as a few new tunes thrown in for good measure. The show was met with a vigorous response, two standing ovations, and a feeling that more people might want to experience it. To celebrate, Wait Long By The River And The Bodies Of Your Enemies Will Float By will be released on deluxe double 180g vinyl LP with a digital download and its own unreleased live album. (This is the first time the album has ever been released on vinyl.) Joining The Drones will be Melbourne doom punk band, BATPISS, whose recent film clip for The Store will give you nightmares for days.
