4ZZZ launched its glorious tradition of counting down listeners' 100 favourite songs on New Year's Day 1977. More than 10 years later, 2JJJ in Sydney (which employed many ex-Zed staff) began conducting its own Hot 100. Because 4ZZZ held the rights to the name Hot 100, there was a little bit of legal biffo when TripleJ became a national broadcaster, so they changed the name of their survey to the "Hottest 100".
Amplify MORE // DISPOSSESSED
Wiradjuri man Jarrod Osei is the drummer for DISPOSSESSED, a trio out of Sydney in the Eora Nation who have a whole lot to say. In no uncertain terms they are writing heavy, genre-defying music, with broad aims of dismantling colonial oppression and if it confronts you, that's your problem to untangle. They are a band and a movement, and I caught up with Jarrod for Amplify MORE to talk about tracks and issues that he wanted to amplify.
Check out DISPOSSESSED and their music here.
