- You may have noticed the flood of rather excellent instrumental hip hop issuing from out Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder label, lately. Even amongst those quality cuts Samiyam - or Sam Baker as you may have guessed - holds a position of prominence. His first full-length Rap Beats Vol. 1 was Brainfeeder's first ever release and he has spearheaded the new sound of instrumental hip hop as it has grown up and out of LA to infect the ears of the world. Sam Baker's Album is Samiyam all grown up and in no need of rappers thankyou very much, his 8-bit influenced tunes and stumbly-ass beats sound just fine by themselves and if they weren't able to work that out by themselves the scarily smily and rather Damian-ish child on the album cover (presumably our young prodigy Samiyam) will certainly scare them off. Everyone else may enjoy to their heart's content.
