Carmen Sandiego Show
- Thursday 6-9am
Carmen Sandiego Show is split into a number of segments each week with occasional one-offs. These include:
Red, Green & Gold Segment: A look at some of the foundation sounds of reggae music and reggae inspired music from Jamaica and around the world.
THE YAY SHOW: Ally Cakes presents the songs she’s excited about this week – yay! The selected songs showcase the hottest new tracks across a range of genres and from around the world. Usually grouped in a theme, (France! Nature! Covers!), and often coinciding with current live tours, the songs are all accompanied by stories about the artist and the release. Information, tunes, fun.
The Baron Oneway Show: Baron Oneway will be tying up his show on Friday night and bringing that taste of dubstep and drum’n’bass to a segment style show for us. Especially for those bass culture peeps still up in the morning.
Stepper Sounds: With the range of electronica blossoming and crossing with traditional musics and genres from all over the world, stepper sounds highlights the techier musical genres that predominantly use electronica and the wonderful experimentation that they deliver.
Kid from Madrid: With former announcer Alvaro Blasquez back in Madrid, we will continue his segment that we have had running for a year which looks at sounds from Spain, Latin America & Afro-beat with his particular take on music from those regions. Though he won’t be here in Brisbane, his return to europe will coincide with his work on radio in Spain which he will produce a weekly segment to be sent to us and played for wider Brisbane. Trully international!
We have a number of isolated segments that happens irregularly (Boo Show – punk/rock), a swag of interviews live in studio from the hottest electronica and dubstep producers from around the world (courtesy of our connection with Dank Morass) , plus our association with RRR in Melbourne and their world music correspondents (brendon Palmer & Uberlingua) provides key interviews and live acts touring Australia….
