Review: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - In Concert
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: In Concert was a crowd-pleasing get-together where audience members were encouraged to laugh, cheer for their favourite characters, and boo for their least favourite. All the while listening to the live original score by John Williams, performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
Audience members included nostalgic and dedicated fans, dressed up in their favourite character outfits, not to mention viewers that wanted to take their Harry Potter viewing experience to the next level. This special event, performed twice on October 7th at the Brisbane Convention Exhibition Centre brought fans and movie-goers alike together to not only listen to a beautiful and iconic score but enjoy a childhood classic.
The QSO performance amplified the existing score and made the entire film breathe. The audience listened, alongside the movie, to the brass section, woodwind instruments and strings section, making it an exhilarating live music experience.
The fans were able to indulge themselves in the performance with music that made each scene more memorable and satisfying as ever, and celebrating the film with fans around them cheering and booing over each plot twist or an evil character being defeated.
It made for a uniting experience where the audience could feel as one. The film itself featured Harry not only escaping out his bedroom window in a flying car and finding his way back to Hogwarts, but discovering his abilities, uncovering mysteries and battling monsters and enemies, as Harry, Ron and Hermione often do.
Here’s hoping that this highly successful In Concert series continues and we will be gifted with the presence of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra once again.
