Monthly Books from Around the World are Discussed in Woolloongabba

'Persepolis' is the story of the Islamic revolution in Iran seen from the perspective of a nine- year-old, who then grows up to live through the Iran-Iraq war, exile, and the reconstruction of her country. It is a funny, informative, thoughtful graphic autobiography, and a contemporary classic for the 21st century. Originally published in French, Marjane Satrapi’s book has been translated into several languages.

'Persepolis' is on the summer reading list for the World Book Club. If you are interested in joining a casual discussion group about books from around the world you might like to come along.

Each month we read a short essay and a novel from a different country, mixing contemporary classics and new work in English or in English translation.

We provide general historical context for the selected readings in our meetings, as well as an opportunity to discuss the readings.

The World Books Club meets the first Thursday of every month at Clarence Corner Bookshop. 596 Stanley St, Woolloongabba. For more information, contact Carolina at
